DRIET in the future
In the coming months or even years, we hope our ideas can be carried on to help the problem of droughts in California. Though our website, DRIET, will not be worked on for a period of time, we want to help others in our community become aware of what they are eating, specifically while staying at home during the world’s COVID-19 outbreak. In a year from now, we have confidence that those in our community who are aware of their drought-affecting diets, will have changed what they are consuming for the better of the world around them. We even hope to achieve our goal of more, drought tolerant diets that help prevent future droughts, or even people in our community who can save water during dry times.
Drought tolerant foods or crops are "able to cope with scarcity of water in various ways" according to The Willits News. The opposite, drought resistant crops, don't do well during drought season, and take a lot of water to produce. Avocados for example, take approximately 60 gallons of eater to grow.
